# Gmail

> How to install the Pike add-on for Gmail to create tasks from email, log time, and see the sender’s open projects and deals.

The Pike add-on for Gmail turns an email into a Pike task, logs time, and shows the sender's open projects and deals, without leaving Gmail.

## Turn on Gmail

1. Go to **Workspace settings** → **Integrations** → **Gmail**.
2. Click **Add integration**.
3. Install the Pike add-on for your domain from the Google Workspace Marketplace, or let members install it themselves.

Only workspace admins can turn Gmail on or off. Google Workspace admins can install the add-on for the whole domain in the Google admin console.

## Connect your account

Open any email in Gmail, click the **Pike** icon in the side panel, and sign in to Pike. You stay signed in until you disconnect.

## Create tasks from email

With an email open, the Pike side panel offers:

* **Create task**: the subject becomes the title, the body the description, and the task links back to the email. Pick the project and assignees.
* **Log time**: log time on one of your tasks.
* **Customer**: when the sender's email domain belongs to a Pike customer, the panel shows the customer's open projects and deals.

## Disconnect

Turning Gmail off signs everyone out of the add-on. Members can sign out from the add-on's menu, or disconnect under **Settings** → **Connections**.

## Permissions

The add-on reads an email only when you open the Pike panel on it. You act as your Pike member, with the same permissions as in the web app. Private projects stay private.

## Limits

* The add-on works in Gmail on the web and in the Gmail mobile apps.
* Attachments are linked, not copied into Pike.
