# Microsoft Teams

> How to connect Microsoft Teams to Pike for notifications, task link previews, and creating tasks and logging time from Teams.

The Microsoft Teams integration sends Pike notifications to Teams, expands Pike task links into cards, and lets members create tasks and log time from Teams. Setup has two steps: an admin connects the **Microsoft 365 tenant**, then each member connects their **personal profile**. Both must use the same tenant.

## Connect the tenant

1. Go to **Workspace settings** → **Integrations** → **Microsoft Teams**.
2. Click **Add integration**.
3. Sign in with a Microsoft 365 account that can approve apps for the organization, and grant consent for the tenant.
4. Pike adds the **Pike** app to your Teams app catalog. Pin it for everyone in the Teams admin center, or let members add it themselves.

Only workspace admins can connect or disconnect the tenant. Connect the tenant first. Personal profiles cannot connect without it.

## Connect your personal profile

1. Go to **Settings** → **Connections**.
2. Connect your Microsoft account and follow the prompts.

If the connection fails, check that the tenant is connected under **Workspace settings** → **Integrations** → **Microsoft Teams**, and that your Microsoft account belongs to that tenant.

## Notifications

With your personal profile connected, the Pike app sends you a chat message for activity that involves you. What you get depends on your notification preferences in Pike:

* **Task assignment**: you are assigned to a task.
* **Project assignment**: you are added to a project.
* **Comment mentions**: someone @mentions you in a comment.
* **Approvals**: your time or time off is approved or rejected, or a request waits for your approval.
* **Other task and project activity** on items you follow or participate in.

Choose Teams, email, or both in your profile and notification settings.

## Link previews

Pike task links posted in a Teams chat or channel expand into a card with description, status, assignees, start and due date, project, and phase. The card has actions to change status and to log time. **Refresh** on the card pulls the latest data from Pike.

## Create tasks and log time

| Where | Action |
| - | - |
| **More actions** on a message | **Create Pike task** opens the create task form, prefilled with the message text and a link back to it |
| Message box, Pike app | **Create task** and **Log time** open the matching forms |
| Chat with the Pike app | `task [title]` opens the create task form with the title prefilled |
| Chat with the Pike app | `time` opens the log time form for one of your Pike tasks |
| Chat with the Pike app | `help` lists the commands |

On submit, Pike posts the new task or time entry in your chat with the Pike app. It also posts to the chat or channel chosen in **Share in**, which defaults to the one you started from. Clear **Share in**, or use a private project, to keep it to your chat with the Pike app.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You act as your Pike member, with the same permissions as in the web app.
> Private projects never appear in a shared chat or channel.

## Disconnect

Disconnecting the tenant removes the Pike app from your catalog and stops all notifications. Members can disconnect their own profile under **Settings** → **Connections** at any time.

## Limits

* One Pike workspace connects to one Microsoft 365 tenant.
* Members act with their own Pike permissions only.
* Guest users in Teams cannot connect a Pike profile.
