# Outlook

> How to connect Outlook to Pike to see calendar events as time suggestions, put allocations and time off on your calendar, and create tasks from email.

The Outlook integration connects each member's Outlook calendar and mailbox to Pike. Meetings show up in your timesheet as suggestions to log, your Pike allocations and time off appear on your calendar, and the Pike add-in turns an email into a task without leaving Outlook.

## Turn on Outlook

1. Go to **Workspace settings** → **Integrations** → **Outlook**.
2. Click **Add integration** and sign in with a Microsoft 365 account that can approve apps for the organization.
3. Grant consent for the tenant. Pike deploys the Pike add-in to every mailbox in the tenant.

Only workspace admins can turn Outlook on or off. If you also use [Microsoft Teams](https://usepike.com/docs/integrations/microsoft-teams.md), both use the same tenant connection.

## Connect your calendar and mailbox

1. Go to **Settings** → **Connections**.
2. Connect your Microsoft account.
3. Choose what to turn on: **Calendar suggestions**, **Pike calendar**, or both. The add-in works as soon as you are connected.

Each member decides for their own calendar. Pike never reads anyone else's calendar.

## Calendar events as time suggestions

With **Calendar suggestions** on, your Outlook events show in **Log** → **Time** as suggested entries on the day they happen, with title and duration.

* Click a suggestion to log it. Pick the task, adjust the duration, and save. It becomes a normal time entry.
* Pike pre-selects a task when the event matches: the event title contains a project number, or an attendee's email domain belongs to a customer with one open project.
* Dismiss a suggestion to hide it. Declined, cancelled, all-day, and private events never show.

Suggestions are never logged on their own. Only what you save counts toward timesheets and approvals.

## Pike calendar

With **Pike calendar** on, Pike adds a calendar named **Pike** to your Outlook account with your allocations and approved time off. Events update when plans change in Pike. The calendar is read only: change allocations and time off in Pike.

## Create tasks from email

Open an email and click **Pike** in the ribbon. The add-in opens beside the email:

* **Create task**: the subject becomes the title, the body the description, and the task links back to the email. Pick the project and assignees.
* **Log time**: log time on one of your tasks.
* **Customer**: when the sender's email domain belongs to a Pike customer, the add-in shows the customer's open projects and deals.

## Disconnect

Turning Outlook off removes the add-in and the Pike calendar for everyone. Members can disconnect their own account under **Settings** → **Connections**, which removes their Pike calendar and suggestions.

## Permissions

Pike reads event title, time, and attendees only for members who turn on **Calendar suggestions**, and shows them only to that member. Email content is read only when you open the add-in on that email. Private projects never appear in another member's suggestions or calendar.

## Limits

* Calendar events never change capacity. Capacity follows the member's contract and time off.
* Shared and delegated calendars are not read.
* The add-in works in Outlook on the web, Windows, and Mac.
