# Sage

> How to connect Sage Accounting to Pike and control what syncs for products, customers, invoices, and supplier bills.

The Sage integration connects Pike to Sage Accounting. Products and customers sync into Pike, invoices created from tracked work go to Sage, and supplier bills from Sage land on Pike projects as costs. Your books stay in Sage. Delivery, time, and margin stay in Pike.

## Connect Sage

1. Go to **Workspace settings** → **Integrations** → **Sage**.
2. Click **Add integration**.
3. Sign in to Sage in the popup and select the business to connect.

Only workspace admins can connect or disconnect Sage. One Pike workspace connects to one Sage business.

## Import data

On the integration page, click **Import data**. The stepper runs entities in dependency order, so Pike reads products and customers before the invoices and bills that reference them. It skips entities whose **Read** toggle is off, names them, and links to sync settings.

## What syncs

| Sage | Pike | Direction |
| - | - | - |
| Products and services | Products | Sage to Pike |
| Customers | Customers, matched by name or VAT number | Both ways |
| Sales invoices | Invoices | Both ways |
| Payments on sales invoices | Invoice status **Paid** | Sage to Pike |
| Purchase invoices (bills) | Project expenses | Sage to Pike, when the bill line names a project |
| Tax rates | Tax rates on invoice lines | Sage to Pike |

### Invoices

Invoices reach Sage only when someone sends them from Pike. Each line carries its product, tax rate, and amount. When Sage records a payment, the Pike invoice turns **Paid** on the next sync.

### Bills on projects

A purchase invoice line with an analysis type value that matches a Pike project number becomes an expense on that project. Supplier cost shows in project margin without manual entry. Lines with no match stay in Sage.

## Sync settings

While Sage is connected, the **What syncs with Sage** card sits under the top button row on the integration page. Only admins and finance users can change it. Toggles save immediately.

| Entity | Read | Send |
| - | - | - |
| Products | Yes | Not available |
| Customers | Yes | Yes |
| Invoices | Yes | Yes |
| Bills | Yes | Not available |

New connections start with **Read** on for everything and **Send** on for invoices only. Customer **Send when** works as in [Xero](https://usepike.com/docs/integrations/xero.md#send-when): when you send it, or with its first invoice.

### Source of truth

Once a record is linked, Sage owns it and Pike reads it back. Pike-only fields, such as project links and internal notes, stay in Pike.

### Schedule

Pike syncs with Sage every 24 hours by default. Change the schedule in the integration settings. **Import data** and **Refresh** always run on demand.

## Synced records

Every synced record shows the Sage marker, "Last synced {time}" or "Not synced yet", and a **Refresh** action. **Refresh** shows only while **Read** is on for that entity.

### Sync issues

Records that fail to sync appear in the **Sync issues** list on the integration page, with the record, the reason, and a **Retry** action. The integration never deletes Pike data on its own. A record removed in Sage is marked "Removed in Sage" in Pike, never deleted.

## Disconnect

Disconnecting Sage stops syncing and keeps all imported data. Linked records keep their history.

## Permissions

Admins connect Sage. Admins and finance users change sync settings and send invoices. Synced data respects Pike roles and private projects.

## Limits

* Pike does not post journals, VAT returns, or bank reconciliations. Sage does.
* Products are read only.
* Bills sync to projects only when a line names a Pike project number.
