Pike turns approved time and time off into pay lines once per pay period: normal hours, additional hours, overtime, and absence. HR closes the period, Pike locks it, and the pay lines go to your payroll system. Pike does not calculate pay, tax, pension, or holiday pay. Your payroll system does.

Pay periods

Set the pay frequency under Workspace settings → Working time → Pay periods: monthly, semi-monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly, with the first day of the period. A connected payroll system sets the frequency per member instead, for example monthly for salaried staff and every 14 days for hourly staff in Danløn.

Close a pay period

Go to Members → Payroll and pick the period. The page lists every member with a contract in the period and flags what blocks the close:
  • Time entries that are submitted but not approved
  • Time-off requests that are still pending
  • Members who logged time but have no contract in the period
Resolve the flags, review each member’s pay lines, and click Close period. Only admins and HR can close a period. When the period closes:
  • Time entries and time off in the period lock. Nobody can edit or delete them, including admins.
  • Overtime, additional hours, and flex for the period are final. See Working time and overtime.
  • Balances update: time off in lieu is credited, and used vacation is deducted for good.
  • The pay lines go to the connected payroll system, or become available as a CSV export.

Corrections after close

A change that affects a closed period goes into the next open period as an adjustment line, such as Overtime 1, adjustment for March: 2 hours. The closed period stays as it was sent. To correct a period that has not reached payroll yet, HR can reopen it until the payroll system confirms receipt.

Pay lines

Each member gets one line per pay type with hours or days in the period. Days on a pay line are the member’s own days: a part-day absence of 3 hours for a member with a 7.5-hour average day is 0.4 days. Every line also carries the hours, so payroll systems that work in hours get exact figures. Contractors get one line: approved hours. Their hours go to a contractor platform such as Deel, not to payroll.

Pay codes

Payroll systems name pay types with their own codes. Under Workspace settings → Integrations → your payroll system → Pay codes, each Pike pay line maps to one code. Pike fills in the payroll system’s standard codes when you connect, and you can change any mapping. A pay line with no mapping is held back and flagged on the payroll page.

Permissions

Admins and HR open, review, close, and reopen pay periods and manage pay codes. Finance users can view pay lines. Members see their own pay lines for closed periods under Log → Time → Overview.
